# Obsidian Retrospective
- 2024-11-27 - The overwhelm of it. Too many files. Too easy to get lost. Too much misc edits.
- ~5000 files
- Too easy for me to go from doing something useful to not
- ex. this file
- 2024-06-25
- quite easy to get distracted on it (Ex. writing this note when I should be focused on the task at hand)
- suggestion...maybe make specific vaults for specific things
- [[nesting vaults]]
- 2024-06-06
- ~4200 files (notes and other things)
- I'm finding there are so many old ones that I wish I hadn't made
## 2024-05-28
- There are types of notes that are certainly not helpful
- #Meta/ExampleOfContentIDoNotNeed
## 2023-02-21
- At something like 1400 notes
- It has been useful though less useful than hoped
- use has waxed and wane
## [[2022-09-01]] - Started
Started using Obsidian in and around [[2022-07-07]].
I have been enjoying it.
I have found it useful.
I have found it distracting.
## What would make it more useful?
- Using it and not using it at the right times
- Using paper/pen for random capture
## Best demonstrated uses...
- Thinking
- Central store of evergreen documents
## Uses I am unsure about
- longterm stuff
- Usefulness for others
- Putting anything in folders
## Uses that feel unhelpful
- Endless documentation (creates clutter)
- Fiddling with the system itself
- Writing for writings sake.
## Examples of uses I have found helpful

- Knowing this is a central place for notes (less paper notes other places)
