# Animal Studies #ToResearch How to know when animal studies are relevant? #Thought/Question It seems very unwise to guess that findings on rats will be relevant to humans in many cases. ## Examples.. - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3044786/ Suggests that 5-htp could cut some of the effects of amphetamines. But the study was done one rats. ## Misc I find animal studies abhorrent and unncessary. There are also strong arguments that the use of animals has held science back in many important ways. If you'd tested penacilin on rodents it would never have made its way into use. If you tested morphine on cats it would not have been used on humans.
