# Colonoscopy #Medical I had one in 2023. I opted for no sedation. Interesting live video. Set design was stunning. Results? Right procedure doctor said it looked very healthy, No signs of anything like colitis of chronis. Did find a couple Hyperplastic polyps but said those are normal and They took a few biopses just in case. Likely didn't need to get one but family had history of colon cancer and colitis. ## If there are future ones... Remember ## How to Prepare... #Pasted from Dr. ### Buy 1 box of Pico-Salax – each box has 2 packets 4 tablets of Dulcolax (5mg) ### **7 Days before the procedure**: Stop any drugs ## 5 Days before ![[colonoscopy prep 1.png]] ### **3 days before the procedure**: - Stop taking fiber supplements – flax seed, Metamucil, etc. - It is recommended that you follow a low fiber, low residue diet. - Avoid all nuts and seeds, as well as foods with stalks, stems, seeds, and skin. - Foods that you may eat include white bread, pasta, rice, and meat of any kind. **2 days before the procedure:** Take 2 tablets of Dulcolax before bed. - Just eat low fiber stuff, see Plant based doctor list - Remember as of tomorrow there is no solid food ### **1 day before the procedure:** (if it procedure is in morning) - No solid food from now until end of prodcedure - You will be on a **clear fluid diet** during this time.  - **Remember – the more you drink, the less hungry you will feel and the more effective the laxatives will be**.  - Plan to drink 4-5 liters (15-20 cups) over the course of the day.  - Vary your fluid intake – **do not just drink water**.  - **You need some sweet and some salty fluids**. Varying your fluids helps maintain a normal electrolyte balance and will help - **Fluid suggestions**:  water, apple juice, white grape or white cranberry juice, ginger ale, Gatorade, clear broths, Jell-O (not red or purple).  You may drink coffee or tea without milk/cream. - 3 PM                   2 DULCOLAX TABLETS - 4 PM                  FIRST PACKAGE OF PICO SALAX (Mix with 150 ml of water) - 10 PM                SECOND PACKAGE OF PICO SALAX (Mix with 150 ml of water) **Avoid**: all alcohol, juices with pulp, dairy products, and red or purple coloured fluids. Gravol is fine if needed ## On morning of the procedure:               Continue to drink plenty of clear fluids until **2 hours** before your procedure, then stop. No Gum ## Bring with me..
