# An experience helping a kid with homework
I had an experience helping kid with homework that I'd like to remember.
The kid was about 11 years old. They really didn't want to.
They said things like "I can't" "This is stupid" "I don't want to", "i'll do it later", "it is too hard"
They tried avoiding it and while doing it they tried avoiding it through bullshitting and speeding through, not caring if the answers were right.
They tried to negotiate with me, trying to get out of it.
They were scared and anxious. There feelings were overwhelming. They were avoiding it. The situation made them feel bad.
It was a striking experience for me. Their emotions were right there on display. They were dealing with something really hard.
I had felt very similar things when working alone.
