[[I do not need much money]] for myself, but much of the work I do to make the world a better place does cost money. Frodo had everything he needed in the Shire. I have felt like my reason for being is to end unnecessary suffering. ## How to fund me and my work - Gift/grant it to an organization I'm working with - Hire an organization I'm working with to provide services - Hire me as a consultant, writer, designer, companion, speaker, trainer, or rabble-rouser though please note [[I am not putting an amount of money on my time|I will not quantify the financial value of my time]]. - Just send me money - [my PayPal](https://py.pl/MDA9s) ## Play with it - Send me some amount of money, express what you hope I'll spend it on, and I'll report back. ## Why me? I'm not going to toot my own horn here. You likely already know or suspect I have a horn. [[come find me]], let's jam. ## Good reasons not to give me money - You think you need it more - You think the bank needs it more - You think the other people you give it to need it more ## Just give, regardless of if it's to me. Seriously, innovative funders are starting to just give wonderful people money and trusting that they will do great things. Ex. Ford Foundation ## Why not fundraise? I'm not trying to get out of work here. I'm good at fundraising, I even enjoy it, but much of the energy spent on fundraising from the usual suspects feels like a waste of time. [[funding in this space has been wonky]]. I think it's a little silly for me to be crafting elaborate pitches about how I'm going to use the water you have to fight fires and grow gardens. We are on the same team with the same goals. Get to know me and you'll know that I am a passionate firefighter and ambitious gardener. ## I would rather be increasing the total funds in the space When I'm spending time on fundraising, I want to be spending it on new sources that will increase the total amount of funding in the space. This process however is slower than fighting for a slice of the existing pie. ## I would rather fundraise for others I love fundraising for others. Its a thrill. Get in touch, I want to help you fundraise! ## Seriously though, why not fundraise for yourself? I have, I will, and I am in small spurts. However, I will not pursue fundraising for my own work ahead of what I feel is more impactful work. Getting money is easy enough and can happen in due time. Think this is wrong? Think I or my work is important enough that I should be seeking more funds?
