They are headed to the university about 15minutes away. It is 8am in September in a town called Waterloo. As they cross the street they see a crow trying to get food from a ziplock bag in the middle of the road but cars keep interupting the crow, putting it in danger and stopping it from having the time needed to get the food. Ilene stops and opens the ziplock bag for the crow, putting it at the side of the road for the crow. In this moment, Emet falls in love. He'll remember this moment for decades. She has dark hair and blueish greenish eyes. She's older than him. He learned the word tumultuous in a letter she wrote to him, explaining why they shouldn't be together. Their ending was not a clean one. She wanted to be a writer. He wanted to save the world, to stop its suffering. They were together for a few formative years. He had never loved anyone like her before and never had his heart so broken. She was his best friend and partner in arms. When she left it took him a very long time to heal.
